Gary Chen, M.D. is an expert in the care of gastroenterology and liver patients, and is well-versed on the latest treatments and advances in endoscopic technology. He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in both Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine.

He received his medical degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, David Geffen School of Medicine, and is the recipient of multiple scholastic awards in recognition of his academic achievements. He then completed three years of Internal Medicine residency training at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California. Subsequently, he completed three years of Gastroenterology Fellowship training in the prestigious Department of Digestive Diseases at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine. His distinguished academic background brings a level of medical expertise to Las Vegas that has been in short supply.

Dr. Chen has done extensive academic research on gastrointestinal disorders, liver diseases, and advances in endoscopy, and his publications have been recognized both nationally and internationally. His research has included    pioneering work in the use of capsule endoscopy and balloon enteroscopy.

He is a member of the American Society of Gastroenterology and Endoscopy; American Gastroenterological Association; American College of Physicians; and American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases. He maintains active medical licenses in Nevada, California, and Arizona.

Dr. Chen specializes in disorders of the digestive system. He offers expertise in conditions such as reflux, Barretts esophagus, upset stomach, stomach cancer screening, peptic ulcer, Celiac disease,  Crohns disease, ulcerative colitis, diverticular diseases, irritable bowel syndrome, colon cancer screening,  abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhea,  hemorrhoids, obesity, and chronic liver diseases including hepatitis B, hepatitis C, autoimmune hepatitis, and fatty liver.

He performs an array of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including upper endoscopy (EGD), colonoscopy, capsule endoscopy, SmartPill motility monitoring, breath tests, esophageal pH testing, and radiofrequency ablation therapy for Barretts esophagus.

Dr. Chen emphasizes on quality of medical care and delivery of the most advanced treatment information to each patient. Previously, while working at a large multi-specialty practice in the region, Dr. Chen had one of the highest patient satisfaction ratings consistently.

Furthermore, Dr. Chen has had significant experience providing medical care to professional athletes. He also has provided volunteer medical work in Asia.
